<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love taking family portraits. No two families are ever the same, and that certainly keeps my job interesting! And perhaps because my own little furry babies are such an integral part of my family, I am always excited when a client wants to include his or her pets as part of a family session. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I recently met Ms. A, who was fostering three sweet puppies for <a href="http://www.poodlerescueofhouston.org/" target="_blank">POODLE RESCUE HOUSTON</a> until they were old enough to be adopted. She asked me to do a photo session for her so she would have pictures of her foster pups as well as her own dogs; and I was more than happy to oblige! So, I traveled to her home where I took both posed and candid photos. These are a few of my favorites:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First, we have the "family portrait" where I managed to get everyone to look at me at the same time - no small feat!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QdUmMbTfOzk/VGKFTXodBPI/AAAAAAAAFV0/dQTAjy6cFxg/s1600/1%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QdUmMbTfOzk/VGKFTXodBPI/AAAAAAAAFV0/dQTAjy6cFxg/s640/1%2BKCM.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are a couple of photos of the adorable foster pups, who have since been adopted and are now living in their forever homes:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is little Monique, who is clearly the independent one of the trio!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-itSVupduTy0/VGKLj4VI-cI/AAAAAAAAFWE/CCnAFJD83Y0/s1600/9%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-itSVupduTy0/VGKLj4VI-cI/AAAAAAAAFWE/CCnAFJD83Y0/s640/9%2BKCM.jpg" width="462" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And here are roly-poly Christopher and sweet Chanelle. Aren't they adorable?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLRoalcK46w/VGKL99zIf5I/AAAAAAAAFWM/ezFz4qILFR4/s1600/10%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="420" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BLRoalcK46w/VGKL99zIf5I/AAAAAAAAFWM/ezFz4qILFR4/s640/10%2BKCM.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next up are a couple of photos of Ms. A and her "grown-up" babies:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We wanted to include casual, every day photos. So Ms. A. sat down and played with her four-legged family members while I took pictures. I love the results!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ugyMCkEmGDU/VGKM36MWfXI/AAAAAAAAFWU/XcTJubDm15M/s1600/18%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ugyMCkEmGDU/VGKM36MWfXI/AAAAAAAAFWU/XcTJubDm15M/s640/18%2BKCM.jpg" width="422" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Look at the love and devotion on this girl's face for her human mama!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ikjZlz6lBnc/VGKOMltf-gI/AAAAAAAAFWc/djrAyQq3ZQc/s1600/17%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ikjZlz6lBnc/VGKOMltf-gI/AAAAAAAAFWc/djrAyQq3ZQc/s640/17%2BKCM.jpg" width="492" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remember, a family doesn't have to be human. Families are not just made up of people related to you by blood or marriage. Families are comprised of those you love, who love you back. To me, that includes pets and lifelong friends. When is the last time you had family pictures made?</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZAWTHKvM8Zs/VA-9InWvwvI/AAAAAAAAFUE/zuaDPl4hDxg/s1600/logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZAWTHKvM8Zs/VA-9InWvwvI/AAAAAAAAFUE/zuaDPl4hDxg/s1600/logo.png" height="64" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My dear friend, Heather, recently asked if I would be interested in doing a back-to-school shoot with her two daughters. Those of you who know Heather - know that she is immensely talented and creative. I am in complete awe of her skill with all things scrapbook and paper related. (If you don't know Heather, trust me, you have to check out her <a href="http://thespottedleopard.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">BLOG</a>. Seriously, do it!) So, of course, I jumped at the chance. I knew that a photo shoot with any member of her family was sure to be fun. And I was not disappointed! Heather's girls showed up with bright colorful outfits, lots of sweet smiles, and a little bit of sass! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We started by setting a scene with a school desk piled high with the girls' favorite books...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxF97py18hE/VA-_5j0fJ0I/AAAAAAAAFUQ/fVG0ca0dXcM/s1600/9%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxF97py18hE/VA-_5j0fJ0I/AAAAAAAAFUQ/fVG0ca0dXcM/s1600/9%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="419" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
...and included a few fun props like bright pink glasses. Little Reese looks both smart AND stylish! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LVuDf9phPuw/VA_EYhf9xOI/AAAAAAAAFUo/rz9h6LS136k/s1600/2%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LVuDf9phPuw/VA_EYhf9xOI/AAAAAAAAFUo/rz9h6LS136k/s1600/2%2BKCM.jpg" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Big sister Rheagan is a girl after my own heart...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ovPCYM7W8V0/VA_CHJ3tRhI/AAAAAAAAFUc/3_L3oRvYP7s/s1600/10%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ovPCYM7W8V0/VA_CHJ3tRhI/AAAAAAAAFUc/3_L3oRvYP7s/s1600/10%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="424" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why, you ask? Well, not only did she have a super cool book selection, but check out her feet. That's right, her shoes are OFF! She was determined to enjoy the freedom of summer and no shoes until the very last second! I can definitely identify with that! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She also scored an "A+" using the pink glasses as a fashion accessory.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dBhBrrFYszQ/VA_GIgxPOLI/AAAAAAAAFU0/eZ4BD8m1a3I/s1600/14%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dBhBrrFYszQ/VA_GIgxPOLI/AAAAAAAAFU0/eZ4BD8m1a3I/s1600/14%2BKCM.jpg" height="416" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We made sure we took photos of the girls together. (Don't you adore their coordinating outfits?!)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1pQbPAwWf-Y/VA_HArxl6jI/AAAAAAAAFU8/i6XUHO3Z8CU/s1600/25%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1pQbPAwWf-Y/VA_HArxl6jI/AAAAAAAAFU8/i6XUHO3Z8CU/s1600/25%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="420" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
And, of course, we took lots of individual photos, too...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ephb7qwliGo/VA_Huve2nVI/AAAAAAAAFVM/dB5mQBTI4Kc/s1600/32%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ephb7qwliGo/VA_Huve2nVI/AAAAAAAAFVM/dB5mQBTI4Kc/s1600/32%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lvjk3RVeqko/VA_HhgalpxI/AAAAAAAAFVE/EfI9oX3p0nE/s1600/31%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lvjk3RVeqko/VA_HhgalpxI/AAAAAAAAFVE/EfI9oX3p0nE/s1600/31%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Heather wanted an extended photo session with the girls, so we did an outfit change and then it was off to the park...but that is a story for another day...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CuDB6HeBRiI/VA_Igg4ohjI/AAAAAAAAFVU/6WdVKuKEmHU/s1600/28%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CuDB6HeBRiI/VA_Igg4ohjI/AAAAAAAAFVU/6WdVKuKEmHU/s1600/28%2BKCM.jpg" height="640" width="552" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Don't worry! I will be back soon with Part 2.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To be continued...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rpwKFBbavdo/U_yGsVljM7I/AAAAAAAAFQs/DOvl6wig7nc/s1600/logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rpwKFBbavdo/U_yGsVljM7I/AAAAAAAAFQs/DOvl6wig7nc/s1600/logo.png" height="64" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
My daughter is her very own unique person, there is no doubt, with her own sense of style and her own ideas. And, at age 14, she is a little bit pouty and a little bit stubborn (on her good days) - LOL! So, the day before school, we had a conversation that went something like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Me: School starts tomorrow. Let's get some photos of you today while the light is still good so we won't have to worry about it in the morning.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Daughter: *rolls her eyes*</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Me: C'mon. I'm serious. You are starting high school. I want to get some pictures of you.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Daughter: *letting out a long suffering sigh*</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Me: Seriously, let's go.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Daughter: Okay, but can I just wear the clothes I already have on?</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Me: Yes, if you promise to smile in at least a couple of the pictures.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<i>Daughter: *another eye roll* Okay...</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
(This is why photographers will often pay <i style="font-weight: bold;">other</i> photographers to take pictures of their own children.)</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, we went and took photos in a location close by; and I even got a couple of genuine smiles (along with a genuine pout or two). But I love them! They represent my teen girl in her sometimes moody, sometimes angsty, sometimes goofy, sometimes happy glory - and isn't that the point of a photo session?</div>

<br />
This is a story as old as time. Even so, it never gets boring. It is never the same. This is a story about a boy...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mzPztG9Eh18/U_ecTF91D1I/AAAAAAAAFNo/QiF-x-BDKJY/s1600/21%2BKMC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mzPztG9Eh18/U_ecTF91D1I/AAAAAAAAFNo/QiF-x-BDKJY/s1600/21%2BKMC.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
...who met a girl....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ttgCZGqolW0/U_ecshZSQsI/AAAAAAAAFNw/XphxgqzyMH0/s1600/1%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ttgCZGqolW0/U_ecshZSQsI/AAAAAAAAFNw/XphxgqzyMH0/s1600/1%2BKCM.jpg" height="412" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
They became the very best of friends...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-otS_sGMTWlI/U_edxgtJWEI/AAAAAAAAFOA/B1fnsGn6JUg/s1600/2%2BKCM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-otS_sGMTWlI/U_edxgtJWEI/AAAAAAAAFOA/B1fnsGn6JUg/s1600/2%2BKCM.jpg" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
...and fell in love.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JUkX6_O6ySI/U_eeKUiQo8I/AAAAAAAAFOI/hE6hu4ETNn4/s1600/18%2BKMC.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JUkX6_O6ySI/U_eeKUiQo8I/AAAAAAAAFOI/hE6hu4ETNn4/s1600/18%2BKMC.jpg" height="640" width="418" /></a></div>
<br />
Rachel and Steffan wanted a simple engagement shoot in a relaxed outdoor setting. And, truthfully, that was all they needed. Their love for each other clearly took center stage! Don't you agree?<br />
<br />

These last couple of months have sure been busy for me! For those of you wondering where I have been...this happened...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My daughter Lou and my son-in-law recently purchased their very first home. It has a great floor plan and is in a wonderfully established neighborhood. But, it is an older home that needed a little love. And I have been helping give it some TLC, in the form of sanding and painting walls and, currently, taking kitchen cabinet doors off and sanding, deglossing, and repainting them. It has been a lot of fun, and I have been so happy to be able to help them. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also just finished directing my first play at one of our local community theaters - which I absolutely loved doing! We had sold out performances almost every weekend for five weeks and got great reviews. I definitely can't wait to do that again!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But, my favorite thing - my very favorite thing lately - has been growing my little photography business. I was recently asked by a good friend of mine, who also happens to be a photographer, to take pictures of his three daughters. Like many children, they don't always want to smile for their dad. So I was recruited to take some headshots and generally updated photos, and the results were wonderful! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Without further ado, here are a few of my favorites of the three beautiful, vivacious Rule sisters...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
The oldest insisted she was not photogenic. I beg to disagree! She is so pretty, and her personality clearly shines through in these pictures!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-31-HpFcvR0E/U8aAoGd6XnI/AAAAAAAAFIc/mLrKLRR13O0/s1600/AR.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-31-HpFcvR0E/U8aAoGd6XnI/AAAAAAAAFIc/mLrKLRR13O0/s1600/AR.3.jpg" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tqHeBo2wYAA/U8aBVwDNb7I/AAAAAAAAFIk/W7KFXmypm7c/s1600/AR.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tqHeBo2wYAA/U8aBVwDNb7I/AAAAAAAAFIk/W7KFXmypm7c/s1600/AR.5.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E2DjqYOV9Zg/U8aBsxzmJ5I/AAAAAAAAFIs/vUjofYvB6Yo/s1600/AR.7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E2DjqYOV9Zg/U8aBsxzmJ5I/AAAAAAAAFIs/vUjofYvB6Yo/s1600/AR.7.jpg" height="640" width="416" /></a></div>
<br />
The middle daughter is quieter - a little more reflective. She knew exactly what she wanted to try with her photos, so I just followed her and clicked away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4CDtmimPnI/U8aDHwkl3jI/AAAAAAAAFI0/mejiQaUD1Dk/s1600/RR.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4CDtmimPnI/U8aDHwkl3jI/AAAAAAAAFI0/mejiQaUD1Dk/s1600/RR.2.jpg" height="640" width="426" /></a></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And the youngest, she just wanted me to finish taking her photos so she could run around in the grass and do cartwheels. But she did manage to stay still long enough to get the shots her family wanted. She is such a little cutie pie!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy Friday - I am so glad you are hopping along with us to get the weekend kick-started! You should have arrived here from <a href="http://patchesandscraps.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">CHERYL'S BLOG</a>. If you are just stopping by and want to start at the beginning of the hop, head over to <a href="http://practicalscrappers.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">PRACTICAL SCRAPPERS</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have two confessions to make to you while you are here. The first is, today is my birthday! And I think that being involved in a blog hop with my good friends is the perfect start to the beginning of my *cough mumble mumble cough* year. LOL!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My second confession involves my layout, which is really, really (really) bright; however, after several days of heavy downpours and dark gray skies, I needed some bright sun, even if it only came from my paper stash:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-biF1N7dd9S4/U4gHCB57tHI/AAAAAAAAFGY/TYSh7HFc2NY/s1600/ready+for+summer.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-biF1N7dd9S4/U4gHCB57tHI/AAAAAAAAFGY/TYSh7HFc2NY/s1600/ready+for+summer.JPG" height="634" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You may be saying, "Krissy, this is a new(ish) summer collection by <a href="http://americancrafts.typepad.com/" target="_blank">AMERICAN CRAFTS</a>. How could you possibly consider this to be scrapping your stash, which is kind of the point of the whole blog hop?" Okay...time for confession two. You see, through a stroke of sheer luck, I managed to score these papers way back during CHA in January. Then, well, life happened (in ways that I would have preferred it not to have done) any my scrapbooking goodies got shoved in a bag under a table, where they sat alone and neglected. Do I have older stash? Oh, yes. But I am positive I don't have anything brighter and more sunshiny than these papers!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To get started, I used this sketch by <a href="http://creativescrappers.blogspot.ca/2014/04/submit-your-layout-birthday-bash.html" target="_blank">CREATIVE SCRAPPERS</a>:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hkEHGG_hHFM/U4gJrZj1XFI/AAAAAAAAFGk/jS-UylrauAI/s1600/creative+scrappers+sketch+stand+alone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hkEHGG_hHFM/U4gJrZj1XFI/AAAAAAAAFGk/jS-UylrauAI/s1600/creative+scrappers+sketch+stand+alone.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see, I stayed pretty true to the sketch. Here are a few close-ups (go ahead, put on your sunglasses if you need to):</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nOkmGwTEr_Q/U4gKOaFaMlI/AAAAAAAAFGs/jrF8ojATwHE/s1600/ready+for+summer+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nOkmGwTEr_Q/U4gKOaFaMlI/AAAAAAAAFGs/jrF8ojATwHE/s1600/ready+for+summer+cu1.JPG" height="640" width="600" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see, I was one layering crazy woman! But what can I say? I wanted to use all my bright pretty papers. And then I found some cool transparancies that I HAD to use; and the same with the cute stickers; and, gosh, how could I NOT use the adorable wood veneer shapes? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And, of course, I had to include a little flair. And include tiny type stickers to add a little visual interest to my title. And sew. And fussy cut. And cut fringes...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4YYgVeykWco/U4gLU-p8unI/AAAAAAAAFG4/jhSDKpAU9kQ/s1600/ready+for+summer+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4YYgVeykWco/U4gLU-p8unI/AAAAAAAAFG4/jhSDKpAU9kQ/s1600/ready+for+summer+cu3.JPG" height="402" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But - my stash is just a little more scrapped now, and my work here is done. Or at least my layout is done...you know what I mean...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Next up on the blog hop is <a href="http://scrappydayinparadise.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">WENDI</a>. I am sure you are going to love her project! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Have a great weekend and happy hopping!</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PPesfOPE9Uc/U4TVkMKUv1I/AAAAAAAAFEg/ScEm-GJWWNQ/s1600/be+you.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PPesfOPE9Uc/U4TVkMKUv1I/AAAAAAAAFEg/ScEm-GJWWNQ/s1600/be+you.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Huntress - she's got her own style. It's quirky, it is definitely anime-inspired, (these days it is often a little pouty-faced), and it's all her own. Some days she is a rock star, and other days she is the ultimate teenage drama queen. There may be a lot she still has to figure out in life, but she knows who <b>she</b> is, and that is a <i>huuuggge </i>start! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I took her out to do a fun little photo shoot recently, and I got a memory card full of photos that capture her in all her pouty rocker/anime glory perfectly. I knew I needed papers that captured the love, optimism, and hope I have for her - so I went digging through my stash for my <a href="http://www.heidiswapp.com/blog/" target="_blank">HEIDI SWAPP</a> stuff, which turned out to fit the bill perfectly. I primarily used the Mixed Company line, which had the clean, simple graphics I wanted. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To help me get my mojo kick-started, I also used the <a href="http://sketchabilities.blogspot.ca/2014/05/sketch-115-new-design-team-reveal.html" target="_blank">SKETCHABILITIES SKETCH #115</a>. I know a lot of ladies on the Sketchablities design team take a more vintage, mixed media approach to the sketches. However, I think they work well for any style!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love the way my layout turned out! I was a little worried, since I haven't scrapbooked in so long, that I had forgotten how to glue together two pieces of paper, much less create a complete layout. But, I guess it is just like that old saying about riding a bicycle...(thank goodness).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are a couple of close-ups:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A lot of layering and some symbolism, too...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBQyVs26aS0/U4TO-bB10fI/AAAAAAAAFDo/8jrVgqgYkZ4/s1600/be+you+cu1.tif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DBQyVs26aS0/U4TO-bB10fI/AAAAAAAAFDo/8jrVgqgYkZ4/s1600/be+you+cu1.tif" height="640" width="536" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My girl is a superstar to me, so of course I had to include a star and then, for good measure, layer it with another star. I guess that makes her a super superstar...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here are a few other photos from our little shoot that I imagine I will be creating layouts around in the near future:<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mmMhRgcyl9Y/U0lSBsdxZTI/AAAAAAAAFCk/HvWWOY1byE0/s1600/you+msam.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mmMhRgcyl9Y/U0lSBsdxZTI/AAAAAAAAFCk/HvWWOY1byE0/s1600/you+msam.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Still playing catch-up and wanted to quickly share these layouts - all made with <a href="http://myscrapsandmoresketches.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">MY SCRAPS AND MORE SKETCHES</a>. Tammi makes some sketches that, apparently, really work well with my way of scrapping because each layout came together effortlessly and quickly, and I love the results! I used <a href="http://www.cratepaper.com/default.aspx?PageID=253&CategoryID=650&SortBy=Alt&SortDir=&ONLY=&PPG=1" target="_blank">CRATE PAPER'S STYLEBOARD COLLECTION</a> to create this first layout, which features a photo of the Huntress who is just full of all kinds of attitude but still just as sweet as she can be.</div>
<br />
My next layout:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EzEUw0vahM8/U0lUUSoHc2I/AAAAAAAAFCw/U87fzxLYAfs/s1600/perfect+girl+red.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EzEUw0vahM8/U0lUUSoHc2I/AAAAAAAAFCw/U87fzxLYAfs/s1600/perfect+girl+red.jpg" height="634" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used an oldy but goody <a href="http://blog.fancypantsdesigns.com/" target="_blank">FANCY PANTS</a> collection - Trendsetter - which coordinated perfectly with this photo of Little Lula who, at age 4, is already a little trendsetter with her own style and buckets of personality!<br />
<br />
Finally, another of Lula and one of her Lala Loopsy dolls going beddy-bye:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LLLoz97PLVQ/U0lVl6polyI/AAAAAAAAFC4/5VOzX3vwIqM/s1600/lala+loopsy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LLLoz97PLVQ/U0lVl6polyI/AAAAAAAAFC4/5VOzX3vwIqM/s1600/lala+loopsy.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used my February <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/" target="_blank">PAPER BAKERY KIT</a> and some random bits and pieces sitting out on my work table to create this fun layout.<br />
<br />
That's it for me today. Hope your Saturday is full of happiness and spent doing the things you enjoy doing most! Until next time...KrissyClarkMcKeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01595264367699050004noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4246811853054114223.post-81296044261259378212014-04-11T12:00:00.000-05:002014-04-11T12:00:57.292-05:00Today Was Golden - My Scraps and More Sketches<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xUzHO-ITzvE/U0gWOXhw-aI/AAAAAAAAFB0/FNYr0UI4BDQ/s1600/today+was+golden+msams.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xUzHO-ITzvE/U0gWOXhw-aI/AAAAAAAAFB0/FNYr0UI4BDQ/s1600/today+was+golden+msams.png" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Today we are playing along with a new sketch over at <a href="http://myscrapsandmoresketches.blogspot.com/2014/04/my-scraps-more-sketch-76.html" target="_blank">MY SCRAPS AND MORE SKETCHES</a>. Head over to blog to see what other design team members have done with Sketch #76, then play along and link up your take on it!<br />
<br />
This is what Sketch 76 looks like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ww1BELRWMwA/U0gYPxWQazI/AAAAAAAAFCA/GHzhgTfIVY8/s1600/MSAMsketch76_zps139a127e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ww1BELRWMwA/U0gYPxWQazI/AAAAAAAAFCA/GHzhgTfIVY8/s1600/MSAMsketch76_zps139a127e.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here are a couple of close-ups of my layout:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rmQx5Ju_dCM/U0gYi6d1qCI/AAAAAAAAFCI/BdBzLpvzk_s/s1600/today+was+golden+msams+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rmQx5Ju_dCM/U0gYi6d1qCI/AAAAAAAAFCI/BdBzLpvzk_s/s1600/today+was+golden+msams+cu1.JPG" height="616" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This was an Instagram picture that I took of the Golden Gate Bridge during a recent trip with the Hubster to San Francisco. We were walking along trails around the Presidio and there were several spots, such as this one, that provided the perfect vantage point to take pictures of the iconic bridge. I loved the way it turned out and knew I wanted to use it in a layout. I used a mixture of <a href="http://www.bellablvd.typepad.com/" target="_blank">BELLA BLVD</a> papers from the Snapshots and Freestyle Sophisticates Collections. I always love it when different collections "play nice" with each other! I haven't used Bella Blvd in quite a while, but these papers seemed to work perfectly for my layout.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I had a LOT of fun creating the title for this layout. Often, my title is an afterthought for me, but not this time!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Qxvi0aUZ1g/U0gaJqC7yMI/AAAAAAAAFCU/YGcjsT_hyyI/s1600/today+was+golden+msams+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Qxvi0aUZ1g/U0gaJqC7yMI/AAAAAAAAFCU/YGcjsT_hyyI/s1600/today+was+golden+msams+cu2.JPG" height="504" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That's it for me today. Be sure to stop by tomorrow as I continue my catch-up and post a few more layouts that I think you are really going to like. I know I do! (snicker-snort)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GL3RFO_eGCE/U0UW7ga2hRI/AAAAAAAAE_4/qH437PEClKc/s1600/love+this.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GL3RFO_eGCE/U0UW7ga2hRI/AAAAAAAAE_4/qH437PEClKc/s1600/love+this.JPG" height="634" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I am back with <a href="http://prettylittlestudio.com/" target="_blank">PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO</a>, and I can't think of a better layout to lead with than this one featuring Lou, one of my beautiful daughters, taken during one of the happiest days of her (and my) life - her wedding. I created this for PLS using the <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1834.htm" target="_blank">NEAPOLITAN</a>, <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/2092.htm" target="_blank">BABY JACK</a>, and <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1921.htm" target="_blank">BIRTHDAY CAKE</a> collections - some of the happiest collections I can think of!<br />
<br />
Very quickly, let me apologize for not dazzling you with my brilliant scrapbooking abilities for the last month (insert laugh track here). I had some serious family issues that took awhile to be resolved, and then I have spent the past few weeks playing catch-up with the rest of life that didn't want to stand still and wait for me while I was trying to get my "shiz-nit" together - pretty rude of life, if you ask me! But I am back in the saddle, so to speak, and want to catch up - so grab some coffee and stay a little while. <br />
<br />
Here are a couple of close-ups:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HC_qbHdkhbs/U0Ua81HKJ8I/AAAAAAAAFAM/JMG4U9oCwzI/s1600/love+this+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HC_qbHdkhbs/U0Ua81HKJ8I/AAAAAAAAFAM/JMG4U9oCwzI/s1600/love+this+cu1.JPG" height="408" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GYbtc19e5MY/U0Ua3zrt1GI/AAAAAAAAFAI/mxrIvfJ68Io/s1600/love+this+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GYbtc19e5MY/U0Ua3zrt1GI/AAAAAAAAFAI/mxrIvfJ68Io/s1600/love+this+cu2.JPG" height="544" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And - playing catch up, here are several other layouts that I created for Pretty Little Studio recently. I have truly loved the way each and every one has turned out!</div>
<br />
My Always layout (packed full of symbolism):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4bTFFKWYsHI/U0Ubk5dDBkI/AAAAAAAAFAU/YslCa45lIXc/s1600/always+final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4bTFFKWYsHI/U0Ubk5dDBkI/AAAAAAAAFAU/YslCa45lIXc/s1600/always+final.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Two fun cards that I absolutely adore. A little bit of whimsy always brightens my day:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BPICmdEidtU/U0UcXBi1OVI/AAAAAAAAFAc/R2pZU-dYtSU/s1600/fun+card1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BPICmdEidtU/U0UcXBi1OVI/AAAAAAAAFAc/R2pZU-dYtSU/s1600/fun+card1.JPG" height="640" width="536" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-37pNxQxqAV0/U0UcxmUBy3I/AAAAAAAAFAk/G3ADmn69llg/s1600/fun+card2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-37pNxQxqAV0/U0UcxmUBy3I/AAAAAAAAFAk/G3ADmn69llg/s1600/fun+card2.JPG" height="440" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This layout - featuring a spring photo I took of The Huntress - and more of those fun Pretty Little Studio paper ribbons that I adore so much!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LcFXJ70d4JA/U0UdEwBzuHI/AAAAAAAAFAs/jgktzK4ois8/s1600/spring.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LcFXJ70d4JA/U0UdEwBzuHI/AAAAAAAAFAs/jgktzK4ois8/s1600/spring.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I had a lot of fun with the layering of this one:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8qDnFdEk8W0/U0UdrRZk3JI/AAAAAAAAFA0/ki_cq1KR-_0/s1600/spring+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8qDnFdEk8W0/U0UdrRZk3JI/AAAAAAAAFA0/ki_cq1KR-_0/s1600/spring+cu1.JPG" height="640" width="512" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And - finally - these two layouts that I have affectionately dubbed "twinsies" - why? Because even though I created them weeks apart, they ended up looking almost exactly the same! Clearly my brain likes something about this design!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
Twin 1, or Smaty Pants:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kFo6Orfv71A/U0UemPpCPQI/AAAAAAAAFA8/hJE5yiT2agU/s1600/smarty+pants+fnal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kFo6Orfv71A/U0UemPpCPQI/AAAAAAAAFA8/hJE5yiT2agU/s1600/smarty+pants+fnal.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love this layout and have to share a few close-ups:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JtfVQFWWAAA/U0Ue-eH9KNI/AAAAAAAAFBE/CEYrFriBllA/s1600/smarty+pants+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JtfVQFWWAAA/U0Ue-eH9KNI/AAAAAAAAFBE/CEYrFriBllA/s1600/smarty+pants+cu2.JPG" height="448" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z7KdgJ5aUw8/U0UfNaDJlNI/AAAAAAAAFBM/ywVlj4zToTs/s1600/smarty+pants+cu1+alt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z7KdgJ5aUw8/U0UfNaDJlNI/AAAAAAAAFBM/ywVlj4zToTs/s1600/smarty+pants+cu1+alt.JPG" height="504" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And...Twin 2 a/k/a This Girl. Also notice how I have used the same "this moment" journaling card for my selfie layout. Yep, I like that particular journaling card a lot. Quite frankly, I have an obsession with ALL of the Pretty Little Studio journaling tags and cards. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HT04K3I_LWg/U0UfkLO3P4I/AAAAAAAAFBU/YUEDgJhboNQ/s1600/this+girl.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HT04K3I_LWg/U0UfkLO3P4I/AAAAAAAAFBU/YUEDgJhboNQ/s1600/this+girl.JPG" height="626" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
A couple of close-ups:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6_nhSVjHs3Y/U0UggRPayBI/AAAAAAAAFBc/MGdxQIt7qgk/s1600/this+girl+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6_nhSVjHs3Y/U0UggRPayBI/AAAAAAAAFBc/MGdxQIt7qgk/s1600/this+girl+cu1.JPG" height="640" width="610" /></a></div>

Whew! I feel like I just ran a marathon! Did you make it to the end with me? Well, if you did, pat yourself on the back and enjoy the rest of your Wednesday! And thank you - thank you so much for sticking with me!</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today's the day - it's finally here! Is it Christmas again already? Not exactly - although that is what it feels like for me! Today is the reveal day for Garden Party on the <a href="http://pebblesincblog.com/2014/03/garden-party-collection-guest-designer-krissy-mckee.html" target="_blank">PEBBLES BLOG</a>, and guess who the featured guest designer is? Me-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-!!!!!!!!!!! I've got to tell you, that is the best way to start off a Monday - ever!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, I'm not going to do a lot of talking in this post (because I have three projects to show you), except to tell you that the <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=167&CategoryID=628" target="_blank">GARDEN PARTY COLLECTION</a> is every bit as fresh and bright and pretty as it sounds! The Pebbles patterns always mix and match well, making layering (and layering and more layering) easy-breezy, and Garden Party is no exception. The hardest part of each project for me was choosing which papers I was going to use because they ALL look perfect together! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Without further ado, here are my Pebbles Garden Party projects:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First is my layout - spring flowers aren't the only things blooming around here! My 13 year old daughter is suddenly starting to look like a young woman, so this spring collection was just what I needed to create a layout about her.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2R-_ZvrfgcQ/UxR1oXSljtI/AAAAAAAAE-I/eJBAvApQvnw/s1600/bloom_and_grow_redu1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2R-_ZvrfgcQ/UxR1oXSljtI/AAAAAAAAE-I/eJBAvApQvnw/s1600/bloom_and_grow_redu1.jpg" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yep, I layered my little heart out! I love adding bits of symbolism to my layouts, and the self-adhesive <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7826&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">BUTTERFLY</a> and "tweet" bird were perfect! And I have to tell you, the glittery foam <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7810&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">THICKERS</a> that I used for my title are some of the prettiest I have seen yet.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are a few close-ups:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I-XH6-GKJ3I/UxR2-LnkK7I/AAAAAAAAE-Q/aUrLkdfe8jw/s1600/bloom+and+grow+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I-XH6-GKJ3I/UxR2-LnkK7I/AAAAAAAAE-Q/aUrLkdfe8jw/s1600/bloom+and+grow+cu2.JPG" height="640" width="512" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0TwkY53XPwk/UxR3IR0gDNI/AAAAAAAAE-Y/YOObjk5zgYI/s1600/bloom+and+grow+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0TwkY53XPwk/UxR3IR0gDNI/AAAAAAAAE-Y/YOObjk5zgYI/s1600/bloom+and+grow+cu3.JPG" height="528" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For my second project, I chose to do a Project Life layout. I have just discovered Project Life and am really loving it now that I have things somewhat figured out. Pebbles creates wonderful journaling cards, but I wanted to show that you can also cut up your regular papers and use them for Project Life spreads, too! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9FIqp7tuT7w/UxR32Kb0aQI/AAAAAAAAE-g/KadnR65v9VA/s1600/Project+Life+Week+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9FIqp7tuT7w/UxR32Kb0aQI/AAAAAAAAE-g/KadnR65v9VA/s1600/Project+Life+Week+7.jpg" height="322" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Of course, I've got that little layering obsession so lots of things seem to end up attached to the tops of my pockets rather than in them! Repeat after me - there is no wrong way to scrapbook. And the journaling <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7825&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">POCKETS WITH INSERTS</a> and <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7827&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">MINI ENVELOPES </a> were so unbelievably adorable (and functional) that I couldn't resist! Just look at how cute these are:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iKtIjH5UtaE/UxR5R_ttJSI/AAAAAAAAE-s/EgSwDLhNzsg/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU1+alt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iKtIjH5UtaE/UxR5R_ttJSI/AAAAAAAAE-s/EgSwDLhNzsg/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU1+alt.JPG" height="520" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9QN6pvWn760/UxR5e6UobNI/AAAAAAAAE-0/RxL3ysDZZFM/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9QN6pvWn760/UxR5e6UobNI/AAAAAAAAE-0/RxL3ysDZZFM/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU2.JPG" height="592" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-reTS31tFbqY/UxR5oYOOFXI/AAAAAAAAE-8/VopXbqYJSvY/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-reTS31tFbqY/UxR5oYOOFXI/AAAAAAAAE-8/VopXbqYJSvY/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU4.JPG" height="512" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So....what do you do when you have one extra pocket left over with nothing to put in it? Well, if you are me, you fill that space with several pretty vellum and adhesive <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7812&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">FLOWERS</a>. Why? Because they are pretty. And I like pretty things. *smile*</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jzb3N9CfZ2Y/UxR6Z08R1gI/AAAAAAAAE_E/5SoK0Eq2hDQ/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jzb3N9CfZ2Y/UxR6Z08R1gI/AAAAAAAAE_E/5SoK0Eq2hDQ/s1600/PL+Week+7+CU5.JPG" height="546" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Did I machine stitch over that pocket so that the back side cannot be used? Um, yes. Yes I did.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Finally, my third project, which was created with the help of my handy-dandy Silhouette Cameo. I made a spring purse with packets full of sweet treats to give away to little ones at a recent party. Seriously, is this not the cutest way to bring little treat bags to a party?!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2L36x_0m3zc/UxR7S8MSjzI/AAAAAAAAE_M/sW8IgxXkAZM/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+v2.3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2L36x_0m3zc/UxR7S8MSjzI/AAAAAAAAE_M/sW8IgxXkAZM/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+v2.3.JPG" height="490" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I created my treat bags by starting with this <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7698&PPG=1&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">PEONY PAPER</a>, which I cut up and sewed to my other patterned papers. The Garden Party <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7811&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">PHRASE AND ACCENT STICKERS</a> and <a href="http://www.pebblesinc.com/default.aspx?PageID=174&CategoryID=628&ProductID=7822&PPG=2&RootCatCode=02000" target="_blank">MINI-CLOTHESPINS</a> dressed my little bags up beautifully!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-saBTh3VuZ_I/UxR8fZb-RiI/AAAAAAAAE_Y/hsr9pSt-Je8/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-saBTh3VuZ_I/UxR8fZb-RiI/AAAAAAAAE_Y/hsr9pSt-Je8/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+cu2.JPG" height="610" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Have I mentioned how much I love layering? I have, haven't I???</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-cBkt_R4fM/UxR80GAc8pI/AAAAAAAAE_g/FXJF_uKk2ZA/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+cu5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-cBkt_R4fM/UxR80GAc8pI/AAAAAAAAE_g/FXJF_uKk2ZA/s1600/spring+purse+and+treats+cu5.JPG" height="626" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whew! That's it for me. I hope you have enjoyed these projects and, if you have, let the ladies over at the Pebbles <a href="http://pebblesincblog.com/2014/03/garden-party-collection-guest-designer-krissy-mckee.html" target="_blank">BLOG</a> know what you think!</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JLaaybf3Mfk/UwrjRFGynwI/AAAAAAAAE84/E_XkNnfnoOc/s1600/Lucky+Fabric+Paper+Project.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JLaaybf3Mfk/UwrjRFGynwI/AAAAAAAAE84/E_XkNnfnoOc/s1600/Lucky+Fabric+Paper+Project.jpg" height="640" width="528" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There's a quick little story behind this project. Someone asked in one of the forums I read if we took lots of pictures of our family members or loved ones on Valentine's Day or if we made any Valentine-themed projects. I didn't, and that made me feel a little sad because I <i>wanted</i> to. I meant to. But time just slipped away and Valentine's Day was over before you know it. So - I looked on my calendar to see what the next holiday would be, and I saw St. Patrick's Day. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Believe it or not, I'm Irish. Well, my great-grandparents were. I've even been to Ireland where I kissed the Blarney Stone! So I thought this would be the PERFECT holiday to prepare for. I am getting a jump on it and have already started creating my holiday decor. And I have pictures in mind and WILL be taking them on St. Patty's Day (no matter how much my kids moan and groan about it)!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've got to tell you, I am LOVING my wall decor:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wg_R_Y2MsKw/UwrmR-OS1yI/AAAAAAAAE9E/Qw2F11Ng6mc/s1600/Lucky+CU2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Wg_R_Y2MsKw/UwrmR-OS1yI/AAAAAAAAE9E/Qw2F11Ng6mc/s1600/Lucky+CU2.JPG" height="640" width="520" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here's why I love it so much (besides the fact that it is pretty darned cute!):</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1. I upcycled an old wooden planked piece of wall decor that was destined for the trash pile because it was tired, old, and broken; and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2. I challenged myself to use fabric <b>and</b> paper on my project. Each wood plank is covered in brown polka-dotted fabric that I sprayed adhesive to. I also used burlap remnants that had been sitting around forever on my four-leaf clover; and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3. I scrapped my stash. I used papers from my outrageously large <a href="http://www.fancypantsdesigns.com/products" target="_blank">Fancy Pants</a> stash. The papers on my wall hanging are mainly from the Road Show Collection. Yes, they are <b>that</b> old! I loved that collection so much I just kept buying it. It's finally time to use it up and make way for something newer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To add even more texture to my four leaf clover, I glued a lot of buttons to one of the burlap sections:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9Yd1Be7g3nE/UwrpkYYEtWI/AAAAAAAAE9Q/kjXElAtSbgY/s1600/Lucky+CU1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9Yd1Be7g3nE/UwrpkYYEtWI/AAAAAAAAE9Q/kjXElAtSbgY/s1600/Lucky+CU1.JPG" height="640" width="504" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The hat and jar/cup decoration were cut out using my Silhouette. I used primarily the <a href="http://www.fancypantsdesigns.com/products" target="_blank">Fancy Pants</a> Park Bench Collection for these. They were quick little projects but cute nonetheless! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This little hat could be used as a cupcake holder, a party hat, or the cover to a jar full of goodies. Isn't it adorable?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gUvwCd7PkRo/Uwrqn65HngI/AAAAAAAAE9Y/WIpJaSaHCDI/s1600/Lucky+CU4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gUvwCd7PkRo/Uwrqn65HngI/AAAAAAAAE9Y/WIpJaSaHCDI/s1600/Lucky+CU4.JPG" height="640" width="616" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That's it for me this fine Monday. As they say in Ireland - Slainte!</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WVAAgnlMpHc/UwOiSCY5BAI/AAAAAAAAE7s/a1hK67pjiOg/s1600/week+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WVAAgnlMpHc/UwOiSCY5BAI/AAAAAAAAE7s/a1hK67pjiOg/s1600/week+6.JPG" height="368" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I told myself back in December that I would give Project Life a try. And I did try it, right on cue, the first week in January. Annndddd...my layout, or whatever you want to call it, for the first week was just awful. Nothing felt like it was coming together correctly. So I shoved it to the side and tried to forget about it. I tried very hard. But - I really like the idea of Project Life or Pocket Pages. My "regular" scrapbooking tends to focus on my thoughts about a person or thing, or I create layouts simply because it makes me happy to do so; I stopped chronicling everyday events on my layouts quite awhile ago. I wanted to find a way to still keep track of those events and this seemed like a good way to do that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I tried again, and what you see is the end result. And you know what? I LOVE it! It took me awhile to finish. I am a slow scrapper anyway, and I could not resist embellishing. The end result, though, was well worth it! This is what I started doing to help me along.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1. I keep a daily planner so that I can write down different appointments and design team deadlines. I started writing a sentence or two each day in my planner about something (or some things) that stood out to me. This takes less than a minute, and I can refer back to it when I am creating my weekly project.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2. Whenever I take an Instagram or cellphone picture that I think I might want to use, I immediately email it to myself. This not only gives me all the pictures I plan to use right in my inbox but I know by looking at my email exactly what day it was sent. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
3. The first time I tried this back in January, I was using papers that had a weird beige cast to them rather than a true white. The papers had no journaling cards and no solid patterns that would allow me to make good journaling spots. For me, the color scheme and patterns made it very difficult to match anything up. While my colors don't have to match perfectly, they shouldn't look "wrong" together - for lack of a better description. This time, I used a collection that had lots of tags and cards; the colors weren't an off shade that made them clash with other collections either. Things went much more quickly with significantly less muttering and gnashing of teeth!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I may backtrack and re-create the first five weeks later on, but right now I am just happy to be moving forward!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I primarily used <a href="http://missfancypants.typepad.com/" target="_blank">FANCY PANTS</a> Wonderful Day and Trendsetter collections to create my week's project. Here are a few close-ups:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t4RgUzHU91o/UwOn7Svoq4I/AAAAAAAAE78/zkrLkwSR8HM/s1600/Week+6+Left.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-t4RgUzHU91o/UwOn7Svoq4I/AAAAAAAAE78/zkrLkwSR8HM/s1600/Week+6+Left.JPG" height="640" width="528" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the number six and the doily used on this:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love big journaling spots like this that already contain a cute graphic. Of course, I couldn't help layering an extra cloud sticker to the top of my card!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fklqh5UMw1U/UwOoW7P1AOI/AAAAAAAAE8M/5z1jqBgEFyk/s1600/week+6+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fklqh5UMw1U/UwOoW7P1AOI/AAAAAAAAE8M/5z1jqBgEFyk/s1600/week+6+cu3.JPG" height="640" width="600" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This tiny bag that is holding my journaling tag was simply glued to the top of my pocket. The bag came with some scrapbook supplies I received in the mail, but it was so cute I couldn't throw it away. I added a few gold rub-ons and tiny enamel dots to dress it up. I love how the cheerful stripes of the tag show through the bag, don't you?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4IvJwnK3l5E/UwOpXXiGM7I/AAAAAAAAE8Y/fXfWL2BhGps/s1600/week+6+cu4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4IvJwnK3l5E/UwOpXXiGM7I/AAAAAAAAE8Y/fXfWL2BhGps/s1600/week+6+cu4.JPG" height="546" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the right side:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vkvkWBuVoJ0/UwOplvbp1HI/AAAAAAAAE8g/KptZnUFEIDM/s1600/week+6+right.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vkvkWBuVoJ0/UwOplvbp1HI/AAAAAAAAE8g/KptZnUFEIDM/s1600/week+6+right.JPG" height="640" width="538" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was important to me to include a few personal words of encouragement to myself as I am on a quest to start living a healthier life. Because they were personal, I enclosed them in this sweet envelope that I embellished:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yBRhVLHyQhQ/UwOqGptg53I/AAAAAAAAE8o/_XdFvSpyKn4/s1600/week+6+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yBRhVLHyQhQ/UwOqGptg53I/AAAAAAAAE8o/_XdFvSpyKn4/s1600/week+6+cu1.JPG" height="344" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And that's my Week 6! I have no idea if what I created was right or wrong or even if there IS a right or wrong with Project Life, but I am happy with the end result and that makes it right to me!</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PXr4PeQtmHE/UwIY_e2uzKI/AAAAAAAAE7Q/Y26JzTspmkI/s1600/tla.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PXr4PeQtmHE/UwIY_e2uzKI/AAAAAAAAE7Q/Y26JzTspmkI/s1600/tla.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This morning I wanted to quickly share a layout I worked on, off and on (well, more off than on) over the weekend. I used <a href="http://ellesstudio.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Elle's Studio</a> Love You More Collection that I got during a recent fantastic sale at the My Scraps and More Online <a href="http://www.myscrapsandmore.com/" target="_blank">STORE</a>. I also used a gold doily and a heart punch to make my gold hearts that are scattered across my layout. Now, I gotta tell you, I am new to the Elle's Studio party. My interest was piqued when I saw my friend <a href="http://thespottedleopard.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">HEATHER</a> playing with this very line at our last ever Archiver's crop (still crying over the loss of that store). But, in playing with these papers and all the coordinating journaling cards and strips that I can fussy cut to my heart's content and then use however I want - well, call me a fish because I am hooked! This Elle's Studio collection is some awfully sweet bait, though!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Can you tell I had a lot of fun layering? Repeat after me: layers are our friends...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MaPE276LnLQ/UwIb9CdgvBI/AAAAAAAAE7c/vuklD592f-A/s1600/tla+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MaPE276LnLQ/UwIb9CdgvBI/AAAAAAAAE7c/vuklD592f-A/s1600/tla+cu2.JPG" height="488" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, you are probably saying, "Yes yes your layout is pretty but who won the sweet Pretty Little Studio gift certificate?" Using my fabulous random method of asking my youngest daughter to pick a number between 1-18, <b>THE WINNER OF THE GIFT CERTIFICATE IS SUE DOWNEY!</b> Sue, I will order your gift certificate today and email the code to you once I receive it!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thank you to everyone who played along and who left some love and kind words, not only for me but for others! Words of kindness leave such an incredibly large impact on our lives. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I hope you have a happy crafty week ahead of you. And if YOU have created something you would like for ME to see and comment on, leave a link in the comment section. I would love to leave YOU some love, too!!!</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p3kRuDGKYi0/UwEWoz7MG-I/AAAAAAAAE6k/FqDyPFL3_JA/s1600/%23love.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p3kRuDGKYi0/UwEWoz7MG-I/AAAAAAAAE6k/FqDyPFL3_JA/s1600/%23love.JPG" height="632" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Happy Sunday folks! I am up on The Paper Bakery's <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/2014/02/sketch-challenge-20/" target="_blank">BLOG</a> today showing my take on the latest sketch, by the wonderfully talented Juliana Michaels! This is what the sketch looks like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5SXBa2j77kE/UwEXL_jkEeI/AAAAAAAAE6s/OeFzlRt7-bw/s1600/Juliana_Michaels_Paper_Bakery_Sketch_20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5SXBa2j77kE/UwEXL_jkEeI/AAAAAAAAE6s/OeFzlRt7-bw/s1600/Juliana_Michaels_Paper_Bakery_Sketch_20.jpg" height="320" width="303" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Sketches make me so happy! They allow me to just sit down and get started without having to think overly long about a design. They are invaluable and allow me to actually have time to get crafty, despite having children, cleaning, work, animals, cooking, and a husband all vying for my attention! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
As you can see, I stayed very true to Sketch 20, only changing a few minor things. I really like this sketch and could see myself using it several times!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
All my papers as well as my bits and pieces came from a couple of older Paper Bakery Kits that I purchased when they were having a huge sale at their <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/shop/" target="_blank">SHOP</a>. I just put everything in a big pile on my desk and started crafting! Here are a couple of close-ups:</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Would you like to play along? Just head to the <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/2014/02/sketch-challenge-20/" target="_blank">PAPER BAKERY BLOG</a> and link up your take on Sketch #20. We would love to see you use Paper Bakery Kits, but it is not necessary. And, if you are chosen as our random winner, you get a $10 gift certificate to the shop! The deadline is March 1st at midnight!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy crafting!</div>

This month we are focusing on scrapping our Valentine's stash, or at least stash that has to do with love. We are thrilled to have Kiwi Lane Designs sponsoring this month! </div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.kiwilane.com/"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" src="http://kiwilane.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/kld_logo.png" height="177" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="http://kiwilane.com/">Kiwi Lane Designs</a> creates templates that help take the frustration out of scrapbooking! And one lucky winner will get a border set and an accessory set from Kiwi Lane. We are big fans of Kiwi Lane Designs and in fact have several members of our design team who either currently or in the past have been a part of their design team! Details on how you can win this prize are at the bottom of this post!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is my layout that I created for this blog hop:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7haqz1XHJ-I/Uv2qQn218VI/AAAAAAAAE4Y/JTQNKUC0l_0/s1600/stolen.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7haqz1XHJ-I/Uv2qQn218VI/AAAAAAAAE4Y/JTQNKUC0l_0/s1600/stolen.JPG" height="640" width="632" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Now, I have a confession to make. I don't have any Valentine's paper left in my stash. I used to <strike>hoard</strike> collect Valentine's paper along with all the holiday papers, but then I realized I had lots of cutesy papers that I probably wasn't going to use. So I gave most of it to a certain 4 year old in my family who was <i>most appreciative</i>! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">That being said, I am on the design team for <a href="http://prettylittlestudio.com/plsblog/" target="_blank">PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO</a> and have been very fortunate to get the new collections as soon as they come in. And to make way for the new, I need to use up some of my older stash, including some appropriately-themed heart papers and lovely pastel papers. I l-o-v-e these papers, which is why I held on to them. But there is no better time to use them, I think, then on a layout about my youngest daughter and her daddy. She is a Daddy's girl, through and through, and he has often said he would give her the world. Unfortunately, he didn't realize "giving her the world" might include giving her his favorite Irish cap!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are a couple of close-ups. I love the way the bright yellow hearts pop against the softer pastel papers, don't you?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r9G09mmp5CI/Uv2tjidC9AI/AAAAAAAAE4k/acxC9Bkh2VM/s1600/stolen+teaser.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-r9G09mmp5CI/Uv2tjidC9AI/AAAAAAAAE4k/acxC9Bkh2VM/s1600/stolen+teaser.JPG" height="544" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I cut up my background paper and then layered it in angled strips, which I machine-stitched onto a piece of cardstock. I added a little peek-a-boo strip of heart paper for fun. I used rub-ons (also dug out of my stash), a label-maker, and alphas to create my extremely long title.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iOGzPsOaHDo/Uv2uD6l9eRI/AAAAAAAAE4s/1YACN6_tKGM/s1600/stolen+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iOGzPsOaHDo/Uv2uD6l9eRI/AAAAAAAAE4s/1YACN6_tKGM/s1600/stolen+cu3.JPG" height="640" width="584" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> Okay, back to the blog hop...we this is a huge list for the blog hop and would love for you to visit as many as you can...but we are not making that mandatory to qualify for the big prize. BUT - many of the designers are offering prizes of their own so the more you hop, the more chances you have to win!</span></div>

Of course, I purchased them at the My Scraps and More <a href="http://www.myscrapsandmore.com/" target="_blank">STORE</a>, which just happens to be having a sale...hmmm....looks like it might be time to buy myself a little Valentine's present...just to show <b>me</b> how much I love...well, ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</span><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy Day of Loooovvveee (typed in my very best Barry White voice). This is turning out to be quite a busy day for me since I have not one, not two - but THREE projects all due today. BUT - I absolutely loooovvvee crafting so I am definitely in my happy zone right now. If you are joining in for the PRACTICAL SCRAPPERS SCRAP YOUR STASH BLOG HOP, click <a href="http://krissyclarkmckee.blogspot.com/2014/02/practical-scrappers-scrapping-your.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. If you want to see the latest coolio sketch, and my take on it, by MY SCRAPS AND MORE, click <a href="http://krissyclarkmckee.blogspot.com/2014/02/my-scraps-and-more-sketches-214-reveal.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. I would absolutely love it, though, if you would stay awhile and look at these adorable cards I made using PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO'S <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/product-p/pl-46np06.htm" target="_blank">Lemon Sorbet 4x6 journaling cards</a> from the Neapolitan Collection along with these super sweet <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1840.htm" target="_blank">vintage die cuts</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used five of these six cards. They are the perfect size for all you project-lifers and pocket-scrappers, but I wanted to do a little something different with them:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-agVFUVPx_R8/Uv2327tprbI/AAAAAAAAE5E/vwZ6INLG_h8/s1600/journaling+cards.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-agVFUVPx_R8/Uv2327tprbI/AAAAAAAAE5E/vwZ6INLG_h8/s1600/journaling+cards.JPG" height="634" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, I mounted each one on cardstock that was just a little bit larger than the journaling card, folded it in half, and - voila! - insta-notecard! I finished my notecards off by adding a diecut, which were just the right size; some sweet <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/Mint-Chip-Bunting-Flags-p/bf-57np03.htm" target="_blank">bunting flags</a>; and ribbons and buttons. These were quick and easy to make, and they are absolutely darling! I cannot wait to send them out!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here are close-ups of my notecards:</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XWcg6qbbGgs/UvU__aNwTTI/AAAAAAAAE34/2GsDgX3pA3M/s1600/jan+cards2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XWcg6qbbGgs/UvU__aNwTTI/AAAAAAAAE34/2GsDgX3pA3M/s1600/jan+cards2.JPG" height="602" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today, we are sharing Valentines over at <a href="http://practicalscrappers.blogspot.com/2014/02/valentine-project-inspiration.html" target="_blank">PRACTICAL SCRAPPERS</a>. I decided to take the challenge to create a Valentine project literally and made a couple of cards using leftover papers and bits and pieces from my <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/" target="_blank">PAPER BAKERY LOVE POTION #9 SCRAPBOOK KIT</a>. Yep, so far I have made four layouts and three cards from one kit. AND, I have enough left over to make another card or two. That's a pretty awesome kit, if you ask me!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is the second Valentine I made with my kit (the third card is an everyday card that I will share later):</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sfetIP2NX20/UvVFGE7CvJI/AAAAAAAAE4I/pm4KTMlqcNo/s1600/jan+cards+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sfetIP2NX20/UvVFGE7CvJI/AAAAAAAAE4I/pm4KTMlqcNo/s1600/jan+cards+3.JPG" height="424" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I do not consider myself a "card maker;" however, this kit contained so many cute design elements that even my simple cards turned out absolutely adorable. I am sure they will put a smile on my Valentines' faces!<br />
<br />
Have you made your Valentine Cards yet? Better hurry! Only 7 days left to V Day!!!<br />
<br />
P.S. - did you know that both <a href="http://practicalscrappers.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">PRACTICAL SCRAPPERS</a> and <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/blog-3/" target="_blank">PAPER BAKERY</a> have sketches posted each month? <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-txhjN6shlzc/UvO_5Exwx3I/AAAAAAAAE2g/zTvXeXRGB7I/s1600/friends+teaser.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-txhjN6shlzc/UvO_5Exwx3I/AAAAAAAAE2g/zTvXeXRGB7I/s1600/friends+teaser.JPG" height="450" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My crafty mojo has definitely been vacationing somewhere (probably warmer) these past few days, so <a href="http://prettylittlestudio.com/plsblog/?p=1248" target="_blank">PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO'S COLOR CHALLENGE</a> was <i>exactly</i> what I needed to convince it to come back to me! Can you tell what colors we were challenged to use together? If you guessed pink and red, you are correct! This is what I came up with, using a fabulous picture of some even more fabulous women that I am privileged to call my friends:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q_f9-Cmv3uc/UvPCVUDrpFI/AAAAAAAAE2s/_qBYyw3ccTg/s1600/friends.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-q_f9-Cmv3uc/UvPCVUDrpFI/AAAAAAAAE2s/_qBYyw3ccTg/s1600/friends.JPG" height="640" width="634" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you are like me, you bought a lot of Christmas papers and didn't touch nearly half of them. Well, it's time to think outside the box - find ways to use all those wonderful papers for non-holiday layouts, which is exactly what I did with my leftover papers, stickers, and journaling tags from the <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/Woodland-Christmas-Collection-s/1845.htm" target="_blank">WOODLAND CHRISTMAS COLLECTION</a>. (I have a confession to make - I love some of the papers, especially the vellum papers from this collection, that I have every intention of using them year round!) They go perfectly with the pinks found on the flags, die cuts and papers in the <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1921.htm" target="_blank">BIRTHDAY CAKE COLLECTION</a> and <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1834.htm" target="_blank">NEAPOLITAN COLLECTION</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used lots of layering and lots of pop dots to help the different elements on my layout to stand out.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kkY4-2hhebM/UvPF50qi3RI/AAAAAAAAE3M/PR4Fkq-5_6g/s1600/friends+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kkY4-2hhebM/UvPF50qi3RI/AAAAAAAAE3M/PR4Fkq-5_6g/s1600/friends+cu3.JPG" height="522" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_CuoEZ-xIfU/UvPEPnqBgtI/AAAAAAAAE24/IdFGAikbFK8/s1600/friends+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_CuoEZ-xIfU/UvPEPnqBgtI/AAAAAAAAE24/IdFGAikbFK8/s1600/friends+cu1.JPG" height="584" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I absolutely love the way the bright pops of red look against the white background and softer pink hues of my patterned papers!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3i-wy3p2yx4/UvPEc_cBS0I/AAAAAAAAE3A/mE-XsKknMdY/s1600/friends+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3i-wy3p2yx4/UvPEc_cBS0I/AAAAAAAAE3A/mE-XsKknMdY/s1600/friends+cu2.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phrLe5V2B8k/UuvjKtJxJnI/AAAAAAAAE2Q/uzhkvpfo8zQ/s1600/RIP+Starbucks+1.31.14e_pp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-phrLe5V2B8k/UuvjKtJxJnI/AAAAAAAAE2Q/uzhkvpfo8zQ/s1600/RIP+Starbucks+1.31.14e_pp.jpg" height="640" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is one of the hardest photos I have ever had to take. I took it, knowing it would be he last one I would ever have of Starbucks - our sweet little Rat Terrier (we think), who was about 15 or 16 years old. No one knew for sure. She was found on the side of the road many years ago, abandoned.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She was the sweetest little dog - not very bright, but she always tried her absolute hardest to please. And she loved us with the heart of a dog ten times her size. The Hubster called her our "me too" dog. And she was. She just wanted to be included in whatever was going on, and she always made sure she was in whatever room of the house we were in. Towards the end, she was blind and going senile but she still loved to go outside and bark at anything that moved; and she lived to go for weekend rides with the Hubster, with the windows rolled down and her nose sticking out. She would practically inhale any treat I gave her, and she always felt so important when we would give her a chew bone that was <i>just</i> for her. She <i>pranced</i> when she had a bone as if to say, "Look at me! Look how special I am!"</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She was the Hubster's dog before I even knew him. Over the years, she and I became very close but he was, without a doubt, her favorite. She knew when it was time for him to come home from work, and she would wait patiently by the front door until he arrived. She was stubborn about that, too! She would not budge for anything while she was in waiting mode. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
About four weeks ago she started getting sick - coughing and wheezing and acting more lethargic. The vet at first thought it was congestive heart failure, but we later learned it was cancer. She stopped eating her favorite treats and, for the first time ever, she no longer followed us from room to room. But our Starbucks was a fighter and it was clear that she was stubborn enough to insist she wanted to stay with us no matter how much pain she was in, how hard it was for her to breathe. So - we made the decision for her. Sometimes being responsible means making the decisions that hurt the most. I hate that. I hate that more than anything.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We petted her and held her throughout the night. And this morning, we took her to the vet. I know we made the right decision, the merciful decision. But that doesn't make things any easier. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As the drugs were administered, we held her in our arms and told her over and over how much we loved her. We told her that she was the best dog ever. I pray that her last conscious thought was knowing she was a good girl. And that she was much loved.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Starbucks, you are sorely missed. </div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWPw2zyzJN0/UugAwoIVHtI/AAAAAAAAE1g/9jd-JGp6V1Q/s1600/at+archivers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWPw2zyzJN0/UugAwoIVHtI/AAAAAAAAE1g/9jd-JGp6V1Q/s1600/at+archivers.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I first discovered Archivers back in 2009, shortly after I started scrapbooking. The Hubster and I were trying to find a local store that carried a newfangled thing called a Silhouette - it was going to be my birthday present if I liked it - and after checking online, we found out that Archivers carried them. I remember walking into the store for the first time and thinking I could spend hours, literally hours, just looking at and touching everything. Sadly, the Hubster wasn't on board with that idea at all! We found the Silhouette, made our purchase, and left. But I vowed to go back, and go back I did - frequently - over the next four-and-a-half years. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I knew nothing - less than nothing - about scrapbooking when I started (despite purchasing a Silhouette), but the sales ladies at Archivers were always there and always willing to answer even my dumbest questions, without once laughing or even batting an eye. They demonstrated everything from the most basic, "What are brads used for? How do you put them through paper?" to the more complex questions about stamping and embossing. They oohed and aahed over my layouts when I went to crops - just like any encouraging mentor would. They always listened with a smile on their faces as I gushed over the newest collection coming out. I loved that store; I loved those employees. So when I heard they were going to close their doors forever, I wanted to cry. And I knew I had to go to one last crop there. I spent the weekend with two fabulous ladies who love scrapbooking as much as I do: <a href="http://thespottedleopard.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Heather Leopard </a>and <a href="http://chocoscrapaholic.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Majken Pullin</a>. Before we left, I snapped this picture. Yep, that's my big ole head taking up most of the pic (due to the short stubby arms I was genetically gifted with which were not able to hold my cell camera further away), but you can see we were having the best time, bittersweet as it was. I love that picture and I love the memories it brings back - not just of that particular weekend, but of it all.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-66MWq2NYZfU/UugJaJPxgsI/AAAAAAAAE14/MTqljBlWAjo/s1600/at+archivers+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-66MWq2NYZfU/UugJaJPxgsI/AAAAAAAAE14/MTqljBlWAjo/s1600/at+archivers+cu1.JPG" height="346" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To create this layout, I started with a fabulous sketch that caught my eye over at <a href="http://myscrapsandmoresketches.blogspot.com/2014/01/my-scraps-more-sketch-63.html" target="_blank">MY SCRAPS AND MORE SKETCHES.</a> I used leftover scraps of <a href="http://lilybee.typepad.com/blog/" target="_blank">LILY BEE</a> papers and other random bits and pieces that were orphaned on my desk after I cleaned up from my last couple of projects. I changed things around a little. I only used one photo instead of 3 as shown in the sketch. And, I used the bottom left space as a journaling spot instead of placing patterned paper there. To make my layout look a <i>little</i> more like the sketch, I added a "faux photo" spot next to my one and only picture. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CcwVvFPrAas/UugJM-MUltI/AAAAAAAAE1w/H1a6Z60MN_U/s1600/at+archivers+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CcwVvFPrAas/UugJM-MUltI/AAAAAAAAE1w/H1a6Z60MN_U/s1600/at+archivers+cu2.JPG" height="536" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I loved this "Happy" hexagon shape that I found, but it was the only hexagon shape sitting out on my desk. No problem! I simply used my shape as a template to trace and cut out a few more from my patterned papers. I layered my handmade hexagons with flair and wood shapes and called them done!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9n9f7URbfVo/UugKI9Sy8QI/AAAAAAAAE2A/2UZlPy5R52A/s1600/at+archivers+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9n9f7URbfVo/UugKI9Sy8QI/AAAAAAAAE2A/2UZlPy5R52A/s1600/at+archivers+cu3.JPG" height="528" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think it was quite fitting to pay tribute to my favorite scrapbooking store in a layout, don't you? I know, I don't actually say anything about the store in my layout. But I will <b>always</b> be able to look at this and remember how being there made me feel. And that is really what is important.</div>
KrissyClarkMcKeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01595264367699050004noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4246811853054114223.post-49382041464227825462014-01-27T05:00:00.000-06:002014-01-27T08:27:20.322-06:002014: The Year of Selfies<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--wwo9TPi4tU/UuXkh5FhtjI/AAAAAAAAE0s/LEdWN4HI7QM/s1600/my+selfies+cu4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--wwo9TPi4tU/UuXkh5FhtjI/AAAAAAAAE0s/LEdWN4HI7QM/s1600/my+selfies+cu4.JPG" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You know me, I am cuh-ray-zee about sketches - absolutely love them, even if what I create sometimes doesn't look anything even remotely like the sketch I used! So, it was icing on the cake to find out that The Paper Bakery has not one, but two, sketch challenges this month. The current challenge is <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/2014/01/hi-from-tegan/" target="_blank">HERE</a>. And this is what I created using that sketch:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r7mLvERLOSg/UuXlW2LAc-I/AAAAAAAAE00/XUhk9CeUjoY/s1600/My+Selfies.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r7mLvERLOSg/UuXlW2LAc-I/AAAAAAAAE00/XUhk9CeUjoY/s1600/My+Selfies.JPG" height="632" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now, there is a story behind this layout - oh, yes, there is. My 13 year old, that once sweet baby of mine who has turned into a teenager (and all that that implies), told me that I was too old to take selfies. In fact, she said I was too old to even use the word "selfie." Really. Too old? Hmmmm...I am in my mid to upper 40's and everyone knows that 40 is the new 30 so, in my book, that makes me practically a teen myself. Okay okay, I may be a teen with some parts that are definitely more wrinkled than they were 30 years ago and other, more unmentionable things.... BUT - I now have the means to buy a cell phone with a camera feature AND I was able to purchase my own laptop AND I am the person who pays the bills every month that keep us connected to every form of social media that would know what the word "selfie" means. Soooo - as I calmly and rationally explained to my daughter, <i>that</i> means I can take and post all the selfies I want. And then, I did the most <strike>im</strike>mature thing ever - I promptly took a few selfies and turned them into a scrapbook layout. I also made a proclamation that this shall be the Year of Selfies for me. That's right, 2014 will be all selfies, all the time! THAT WILL SHOW HER - HA!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So there you have it - a layout created because of a major snit. And, I love it - obviously. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I used my Paper Bakery Love Potion #9 <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/product/january-love-potion-9-scrapbook-kit/" target="_blank">KIT</a> to create this layout. The feather and "news flash" stamp were included with previous kits; however, they were so cute, I had to include them. Here are a few close-ups:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZocKZPapA4o/UuXpRRfhfSI/AAAAAAAAE1Q/D4Z8d6q4Qfs/s1600/my+selfies+cu3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZocKZPapA4o/UuXpRRfhfSI/AAAAAAAAE1Q/D4Z8d6q4Qfs/s1600/my+selfies+cu3.JPG" height="376" width="640" /></a></div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">I love scrapbooking - that is no secret. And I love kits because everything is put together for me ahead of time so I can spend less time gathering supplies and more time crafting. But - the sign of a really good kit is one that will let me achieve different looks with my projects, depending on how I use my supplies. The Paper Bakery's January Kit, </span><a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/product/january-love-potion-9-scrapbook-kit/" style="text-align: justify;" target="_blank">Love Potion #9</a><span style="text-align: justify;">, is exactly </span><i style="text-align: justify;">that kind</i><span style="text-align: justify;"> of kit. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is my first layout, which I had a blast making! I adore bright colors so all the pops of yellow and teal made me a very happy girl.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NkoW5mJ_OKc/UuSc6yN-r5I/AAAAAAAAEz0/pKkDj-9tv80/s1600/ohemgee.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NkoW5mJ_OKc/UuSc6yN-r5I/AAAAAAAAEz0/pKkDj-9tv80/s1600/ohemgee.JPG" height="640" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Have a little too much blank space on your layout that's driving you crazy because you are <b>NOT </b>a minimalist clean and simple girl? Well, if you are me, then you simply fill it up with a few ink splatters and a bunch o' sequins.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A-n-d if you are like me and have a sweet little glassine bag that is empty because you used all your sequins (or at least used all the ones that didn't end up scattered all across your floor), then why not add it to the layout, too? I stitched around the edges of mine and tucked a journaling tag into it. See?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUGOiQITw7E/UuSekLQKrwI/AAAAAAAAEz8/6f5iVMUOHNg/s1600/ohemgee+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUGOiQITw7E/UuSekLQKrwI/AAAAAAAAEz8/6f5iVMUOHNg/s1600/ohemgee+cu2.JPG" height="640" width="576" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Those little October Afternoon chipboard frames? Well, they just make me happy - plain and simple...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, there you have one look. Here is the second:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I2Pm6g0vvCw/UuSfY6XD-OI/AAAAAAAAE0M/s8wSAgUnZzs/s1600/You+Make+Me+Happy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I2Pm6g0vvCw/UuSfY6XD-OI/AAAAAAAAE0M/s8wSAgUnZzs/s1600/You+Make+Me+Happy.JPG" height="632" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This layout has a softer, more vintage-y look. And - rather than layering my papers like I often do, I instead layered my ephemera on this layout. How did I do it? Basically, I took every single bit and piece out of a bag full of bits and pieces from My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found Collection and moved each piece around on my layout. If I liked it, it stayed. If I didn't, it went back in the bag. If I wasn't sure, it sat by the side of my layout until the end. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Would you have guessed that these two layouts were made with the same kit? I don't think I would have.</div>

That's it for me today. Do you like what you see? If so, please stop by the Paper Bakery <a href="http://www.paperbakerykits.com/blog-3/" target="_blank">BLOG</a> and let them know what you think! And, of course, it would mean the world to me if you would let <b>ME </b>know what you think, too!!!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Happy Thursday! We have a new challenge over at <a href="http://prettylittlestudio.com/plsblog/" target="_blank">PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO</a> today. Can you guess what it is? It's a word challenge! That's right, our challenge was to create something using the phrase, "you are my world." Like all Pretty Little Studio challenges, you don't have to actually <i>use</i> that phrase in your project, it is just the inspiration. I, however, chose to interpret it literally and made it the title for my layout about my very most-favoritest valentine - the hubster. That sweet face of his still makes my heart go pitter-pat!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am having a love affair with the color gold right now! I may be a couple of months late to the gold party, but I prefer to think of it as being fashionably late. Yes, I am Elizabeth Taylor-ing the gold trend - lol! I can't help my obsession, though. Gold is just so pretty! It sparkles, and I am a lover of sparkly things (yes I am)!!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vLdRLYXSAa8/UuFMKG3ZxiI/AAAAAAAAEzU/Mb1Lxh2XM64/s1600/you+are+my+world+cu1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vLdRLYXSAa8/UuFMKG3ZxiI/AAAAAAAAEzU/Mb1Lxh2XM64/s1600/you+are+my+world+cu1.JPG" height="482" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love, love, love all the vellum papers that Pretty Little Studio came out with in the <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/Woodland-Christmas-Collection-s/1845.htm" target="_blank">WOODLAND CHRISTMAS COLLECTION</a>, including this one with tiny gold stars. And the cooler tones of my Starfish paper from the <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/category-s/1867.htm" target="_blank">SAND CASTLE COLLECTION</a> (still one of my favorites over a year later) contrasts nicely against my pretty sparkling gold! </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Speaking of gold, one of the very next things I intend to get from the PRETTY LITTLE STUDIO STORE will be their new gold foil stickers like these <a href="http://www.plspapershop.com/product-p/st-57wc10.htm" target="_blank">ARROWS</a>! I <i style="font-weight: bold;">need</i> them. I think I could have found a space to squeeze one or two on this layout, don't you?</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5unSrx-LAlk/UuFO2IOToSI/AAAAAAAAEzc/UYO3jOXrQDY/s1600/you+are+my+world+cu2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5unSrx-LAlk/UuFO2IOToSI/AAAAAAAAEzc/UYO3jOXrQDY/s1600/you+are+my+world+cu2.JPG" height="530" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
That's it for me today. Do you like the gold trend? Is there another new, hot trend that I should try out? I would love to hear from you!</div>
